Cailfornia Considering Banning Black Cars? News From the Land of Fruits and Nuts!

Ok, so just when I didn't think the food police and the Nanny State could get any wierder, the California legislature proved me wrong. Apparently, the California Air Resources Board figures that the climate control systems of dark colored cars need to work harder than their lighter siblings – especially after sitting in the sun for a few hours. So, in a move to reduce the energy use, the black car ban would be phased in starting in 2012.

What a switch. When the first Model T rolled off the assembly line, Henry Ford's famous quote was "you can get it in any color as long as its black."

Where does it stop? Can't we think for ourselves? Even Obama wants the government to control our thermostats in our homes. George Orwell's 1984 is just happening 25 years late.

I have a sister-in-law from the land of fruits and she would agree with all of this. She's a fruit and nut, too, living in Santa Barbara where they don't even allow a Wal Mart or any type of chain store.

This lady grew up in Georgia and is rather ashamed of her Southern roots. Thank goodness she keeps to the left coast. Nice blog, Graham!
